Shoreline Christian Church

Old Lyme, CT 06371

Shoreline Church, a dynamic family church has finally found and contracted to purchase a new church home, Shoreline had its humble beginnings over 7 years ago in December of 2002, in the Pastor’s home in Old Saybrook. Within a few months Shoreline rented the Saybrook Middle School Auditorium. After 3 years in the auditorium, in March of 2006 they moved again into a beautifully renovated leased facility located in the Old Saybrook Business Park at 139 Mill Rock Road East.  In in September of 2008, Shoreline signed a contract to purchase a beautiful 105 year old historic church building in Old Lyme.  After months of zoning issues and over 4.5 months of renovations, Shoreline celebrated its first service Sunday October 10, 2010, at 10am.

With the spreading of the Gospel comes persecution.  Anytime Jesus is preached and truth is spoken, there are those who are used by the enemy to try and cause division and destruction.  Fear is strong tactic used by radicals to force their beliefs on an unsuspecting public.

Recently a local newspaper purposely tried to do us harm.  The article which contained about 10% truth and 90% innuendo and outright fabrication and distortions has had the opposite effect of its writers and editors.  Shoreline is growing in greater numbers than ever.  Immediately after the article(s), {after the failure of their first campaign, they ran the similar article in another state paper to try and cause upheaval} our church had 14 new visitors on one Sunday and added 7 new members.

The tactics used by this paper and it’s so called journalists, are the same tactics used by far reaching radicals. Create a lie, and try to make it stick.  Fortunately, the members of Shoreline church are well educated, intelligent and self reliant individuals who are involved in the day-to-day operations of the ministry.  We have found that the community at large is also much more intelligent than these reporters assumed.  We at Shoreline considered this attack not only on us as a church, but on the community.  The article weaved a tale, to purposely mislead readers to accept their conclusions.  We have found that this community is also intelligent and well educated and able to see through this type of radical character assassination.

Our members do not check their minds at the door and follow blindly whoever may be speaking.  Shoreline does not mandate giving, nor have we ever pressured anyone to give to any ministry or outreach.  All funds received by this ministry are voluntary. Shoreline has for its members, professional's, business owners, working and stay-at-home moms, white and blue collar workers.

Shoreline was instrumental in helping to bring the Angelfood Ministries Program to our area.  Our members were there when our church sponsored the largest ever egg hunt in the Shoreline's history. We had over 1300 people in attendance and gave away nearly $5,000 in gifts and prizes to the young participants.

Our church members were there when we helped to renovate the home(s) of those who were less fortunate.  Our members have been involved in feeding the poor, clothing the homeless and providing shelter to those in need.  Our members have been involved in local as well as foreign missions. We are currently working towards drilling a well through "Water for Life".  We have youth programs, adult ministries; we also have one of the strongest visitation and convalescent ministries in the state.

Newspapers continue to decline in popularity, being replaced by more practical and current news sources. These articles only show its desperation in trying to hold on to a declining readership.  Unfortunately, these journalists, after the demise of their current employer, will probably find suitable employment at one of the major news networks that employ these on-going radical journalistic tactics.

We at Shoreline are continuing, without pause, to pursue the vision that God has laid out before us. We stand with and behind our Pastor’s and leaders and look forward to serving this community.
