Why Parables

May 18, 2025    Pastor Mike Calo

In Matthew chapter 13 we find a discussion that the disciples had with Jesus as He was teaching the people

and as usual, Jesus was speaking in parables. And they were confused because a parable is designed

to conceal truth, not to expose it. A parable is a strange way of speaking. A parable is designed to hide the truth until the people are ready to receive it.

So, parables are designed not to tell you everything. A parable is designed to make sure you do not hear the truth immediately. …Why? Please listen carefully.

A holy person cannot pretend, when a person is holy, the word holy means pure,

but it doesn't just mean pure as in spotless, it means pure in motive.

In other words, a holy person cannot have an ulterior motive. They cannot pretend.

See, God cannot give you something you never asked for.

Do you know why?

Because if he gave you something you didn’t ask for He would be pretending that you asked for it….

Think about that…

See God knows everything. .He even knows what you have need of before you ask

So, God must remain Holy and truthful, that’s why you have to ask God for things.

Not because He doesn't want you to have them, but He needs you to release His holiness to give it to you!

Are you getting it yet?
